Killeen

Killeen

Derived from O Cillin, Woulfe considers Cillin to be a diminutive of ceallagh, strife, but MacLysaght finds this impossible.  Killeens were  located mainly in the western seaboard counties.

Our Killeen family is found in Co Mayo in the early 1800s.  It is hoped that the emerging records will supply us with more clues to the Killeen ancestry.
