Another constant in my childhood, this picture hung in the balcony-like hall of our Cleveland Avenue home. "You," Mother said to Clare and I, "Are my two little birdies." This memory makes this picture special and a reminder of our mother's quiet, gentle love. I am especially fond of her early soft and lovely watercolors.
